Fighting Isis

In February 2015, civilian Tim Locks headed to Kurdistan to fight Daesh (also known as ISIS). He was determined to make a difference and having worked as a prison officer and a bouncer he knew how to handle himself. He sold his house to raise money, put himself through arms training and sourced his equipment on eBay.
In Fighting ISIS he reveals what war is like Kurdish style. He also introduces us to the British and American ex-soldiers he fought alongside - all characters in their own right, from tough Scot JP to ex-marine Tex. He takes us into the black market as he buys his weapons and on to the front line, with the enemy on the horizon and the mortars thudding down.
As his team helps clear Daesh from occupied villages they come under fire (sometimes from their own side), watch bemused as a busload of schoolkids turn up on a day trip to the warzone, and discover a homemade Daesh drone - a camera dangling at the end of a Dora the Explorer balloon. When cultures clash and the bullets start flying, Tim shares his adventures with honesty and black humour.
